Shade Shelters at Drone Training Park

Two of the four planned shade shelters at the Buena Vista Drone Training Park are complete and ready for use!

Thanks to the herculean efforts of Al Simpson, Secretary and team lead of the Drone Training Park Planning & Maintenance team, they were permitted, built and approved by Chaffee County. The smaller one is located in front of the Certification Zone and is about 10’ x 20’, while the larger one is between the Flight Deck and Obstacle Zones and measures about 20’ square. This larger one is ideal as a classroom for ground instruction and briefings, then step outside and go flying!

Financial support for the shelters and other improvements is made through the generous matching grant by the Ray Foundation. Others have donated in-kind products and services, including ACA products.

We’re looking forward to increased use of this unique facility and showcasing it at the upcoming UAS Roundup being held September 17 & 18, 2023.
