Members and Remote ID

by Taylor Albrecht

We’ve heard from several members who’s aircraft systems have been updated by DJI to be Remote ID compliant! Most recently, the FAA issued Declarations of Compliance for DJI’s Phantom 4 Pro v2, Mavic 2 Zoom and Pro, FPV, Mavic Air 2, Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, and others.

You need to update the firmware of the aircraft and make sure Remote ID is functioning. Then go to the UAS Declaration of Compliance website (https://uasdoc.faa.gov/listDocs) and look up your Remote ID serial number. Once you have that, then you go over to your DroneZone account (https://faadronezone-access.faa.gov/) and edit your aircraft inventory.

Here are the instructions for a Part 107 registration:

Part 107 – Editing an Existing Registration

  • Log in to FAADroneZone

    • Click on the button labeled “Launch Drone Owners and Pilots Dashboard”

    • Make sure you are on the Part 107 Dashboard

  • Click on "Manage Device Inventory"

    • Click on the three vertical dots associated with the drone in the “Actions” column and select “Edit” from the drop down menu

    • Edit the answer to the Remote ID question to “Yes”

    • Enter the Remote ID serial number from either the updated Standard Remote ID drone or the Remote ID broadcast module: (NOTE:  this number may be listed on either the device or the controller)

    • Click on “Save”

You’ll have to pay another $5 registration fee for each aircraft being changed.

I ended up having some technical difficulties with my Mavic 2 Zoom that aren’t yet resolved. I’ll update you when the issue is fixed. Suffice it to say, though, that my Mavic Air 2 updated without a hitch.
