Mountain West UAS Annual Picnic: A Day of Drones and Delights

On September 7th, the Mountain West UAS group held its much-anticipated annual picnic at the picturesque Drone Training Park. The event followed the monthly meeting which featured Gina Moretto from the FAA Safety Team and brought together around 20 enthusiastic members for a day filled with flying fun, delectable food, and great company.

The setting at the Drone Training Park was ideal, with clear skies and open space that perfectly complemented the day's activities. Catering was provided by the popular Sorelle Deli, known for its delicious offerings. Attendees enjoyed a variety of tasty options, from gourmet sandwiches to side salads to incredible desserts, making for a satisfying lunch that fueled the day’s excitement.

Drone enthusiasts came prepared, with many members bringing their own personal drones. The open space of the park allowed for some impressive aerial displays and provided a perfect opportunity for both seasoned pilots and newcomers to share tips and tricks. The highlight of the day, however, was the introduction of MWUAS’s new Avata 2 FPV drone. Members eagerly lined up to try their hands at flying the state-of-the-art equipment, which offered a thrilling, immersive flying experience. The Avata 2 FPV drone quickly became a focal point of the event, with its advanced features sparking conversations and sparking inspiration among attendees. Whether it was the excitement of trying out new technology or the joy of simply being among fellow drone enthusiasts, the picnic was a resounding success.

As the event drew to a close, it was clear that the Mountain West UAS annual picnic had once again delivered a memorable experience. The combination of good food, innovative technology, and a strong sense of community ensured that everyone left with smiles and stories to share. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event, eager to see what new adventures and advancements will take to the skies!
